Answers About Your Questions About Being Referred To Our Law Firm

There are two forms of legal referrals:

  • Referrals from other law firms
  • Referrals from family or friends

Both are quite common in the legal industry. At KTC Law Firm, we want you to feel confident that you are in good hands even if you originally contacted a different law firm. For that reason, we are happy to answer any questions you have about the referral process.

On this page you will find answers to some of the most common questions we hear from referral clients. If you have questions not answered here, please let us know so we can answer it for you immediately.

Why Were You Referred My Case?

Other attorneys and law firms refer cases to us for a variety of reasons. For example, the law firm you contacted may have had too many cases in progress at the time and referred you to us so that your case would get the time and attention it deserves. Another reason may be that your case has some sort of specialized feature that falls outside of the original law firm’s areas of practice, so they referred you to us because it is something we have experience handling.

Typically, but not always, when a case is referred it means that the original law firm sees value in your case but doesn’t have some resource to be able to draw it out. We do, which is why so many law firms refer their cases to us. This all being said, were we not to have accepted the referral, the likely next step the original law firm would take would be to drop your case.

If a family member or friend referred you to us, it is likely because we provided a satisfying resolution to a case we handled for them or someone they know.

Do you Have The Experience To Handle My Personal Injury Claim

Yes. You were referred to us because someone you care about or a legal professional has worked with us in the past successfully or recognizes our skill in the legal arena. We have successfully handled more than 10,000 personal injury claims, including car accident claims, slip-and-fall accident claims and much more. Several of our lawyers have been in practice at least 10 years, some for 15 or more.

All of our lawyers are members of the State Bar of Texas. You can contact the State Bar of Texas, which is the organization that oversees lawyers and law firms in this state. They will validate for you that we are an established firm and that referrals are an established practice.

Who Is My Law Firm Now?

Upon completion of intake documents, KTC Law Firm is your law firm of record. Any communication about your case will come from us. If you have questions about your case, please direct them to us. You will find that we are very responsive. Providing every client with personal attention is important to us.

Do I Have To Pay Two Attorney Fees?

The amount you pay will be the same as you would have paid to the original law firm you contacted. Keep in mind that personal injury claims are handled on a contingency basis, so you only pay attorney fees and any expenses if we are successful in getting compensation for you. We will then pay a small referral fee to the law firm that sent you to us. You will not pay any extra.

An example often helps: Let’s pretend your case settles for $10,000 without litigation. The attorney fee in that scenario would be $3,333.33, plus any expenses. KTC Law Firm would keep $2222.22 and return to the referral source $1111.11.
